Description

Wild Petunia (Ruellia humills) is a perennial wildflower with lavender trumpet shaped flowers that attract hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. Prefers full sun and dry, sandy soils or well-drained loamy soils. Blooms May through September and grows 1 ft to 3 ft tall, typically under 1 ft. Host plant for Common Buckeye caterpillars. Deer resistant.

Supports long-tongued bees and leaf cutter bees. Also visited by butterflies and moths, and occasionally used as a host plant. Best for front of the flower bed, rock gardens, or clumped in shortgrass prairie plantings. A quart will include 1 individual plant.
